FAQ - I.DRR
What do I need to be able to run I.DRR?
Since I.DRR is not a stand-alone program, it requires Microsoft Excel 2007 in order to function properly. It will not run in Microsoft Excel 2007 viewer or any other version of Excel. To view the User Guides, you have to have Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or newer.
When I initially purchase I.DRR, is this an annual payment or a one-time fee?
It is both. There is an initial fee to acquire the program for a 1 year license. As updates are released, you'll have to renew your license, but it will be discounted because you've already paid for the program.
This seems like a pretty expensive program. Why is it so expensive?
The profit from the program is used to fund new research to keep updating the program. It might seem like an initial high cost, but the contribution from each user purchasing the program and renewing for updates will allow the researchers and programmers to continually make I.DRR a useful and accurate program for all those working in crash reconstruction.
How much do yearly updates cost?
It depends. It will depend on how significant the improvements are to I.DRR. If there are a lot of changes such as a lot of additional research added and several calculation sheets added, the update cost would be more than if there were only a few changes made. Crash Safety Solutions, LLC will work with the program writers to keep costs low as possible. We are currently projecting a license renewal of $100-$150 dollars per update. But like mentioned earlier, it depends!
How will updates be handled?
We are suspecting that there will be one major update a year, and if bugs appear and fixes are made those will be available to everyone. Costs for updates, as long as you maintain a license, will be at a reduced rate.
I want to put I.DRR on my laptop and my home desktop. Can I do that or do I have to purchase two copies of the program?
As a single user licensee, you can use the same program file on your computers. You just have to copy the file onto each computer you would like it on. The program is registered to you, the single user so if you enter in your username and password, the program will work fine on any computer, as long as it follows computer requirements.
Can I purchase I.DRR for my entire department or consulting firm?
Yes, please contact Lisa at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for further details regarding multiple licenses.
When I open I.DRR it looks weird, what is wrong with it?
Make sure the Macros are enabled. Also, are you using Excel 2007?
When I type in some of my parameters, there are empty spaces in the output. Why?
If you are using metric rather than imperial, there will be empty spaces if you input a value that doesn't make sense.
